Lovely place, really friendly staff. Comfortable room, great nights sleep. We chose the shared bathroom which was fine as we were the only ones using it. Food was nice and reasonably priced, had a nice atmosphere with some locals being in for dinner as well. Very pleasant and great value for money. A little tired in some places but it didn’t affect our stay.

Great location for travelling to and from Scotland and breaking up a very long journey. The bath was huge, and the shower was really powerful and hot - the best shower that I've had in a very long time! The room was lovely and the food we had in the restaurant was all good too 😀

A very handy overnight stop on the A66. Served its purpose well. Only gripe was the room was like a furnace as we couldn't turn down the radiator as the thermostat valve kept detaching, thankfully the heating went off during the night, also the blind on the front door would also detach from the door when lowering but we did manage to lower the blind through perseverance. Notified the staff in the morning and was informed that they were aware of these issues and were looking for someone to fix them.

Reliable and affordable location close to Barnard Castle. Staff were helpful to allow me to upgrade my room when I realised I’d accidentally booked without private bathroom! Pleasantly surprised to find a cooked to order breakfast rather than continental only included. Owners were friendly. (Replacement) room (deluxe double en-suite on top floor) was extremely clean, comfortable, warm and well maintained. Very good shower!!
