This hotel is an interesting one to comment on: It celebrates 100 years of history next year and in truth it is a little tired - that said, it is a charming colonialesque building quietly settled on the bank of the Chao Phraya River [opposite Pier 13 at Khao Shan Road, which is a lively backpackers, nightlife area which is well worth a visit]. The only way to reach the hotel is via a complimentary hotel boat ride accross the river - the boat ride is lovely, the service is regular the only drawback is: (i) the crossings stop at 10 pm and you then have to negotiate your own way over which we in fact never attempted (ii) at night the access to the boat is up a long dark alley which despite being lit up when the boatman comes to collect you from the closed metal gate is in fact a little off putting and really needs attention! The hotel itself is very picturesque and you really do feel like you have popped back to the past circa early -mid 1900's. The staff are, if few in number helpful and pleasant. The breakfast which was entirely adaquate, was included in the booking cost, it was served slowly (which again I had no issue with) - I am quite sure if asked they could have hastened its arrival - is in a lovely if rather old fashioned drawing room - the feeling was of being taken back in time when servants were De riguer and plates had the names of the establishment stamped on them- in truth I loved it - my partner felt however this was all perhaps a little 'too old". The room we stayed it was a 'superior double' - it was small perhaps a little too small and it was a little dark with lights on required when entering - but some of the windows were of colored glass - a feature I liked and again the feeling was of staying somewhere in the past which is a feeling that I happen to like. The courtyard setting around the hotel was junglified with lots of tropical plants - it was I thought rather appealing.

Praya Palazzo is a wonderful oasis in the heart of Bangkok. The staff were so friendly and thoughtful and took very good care of us. Sitting in the garden and watching the river and the boats was a delight and so peaceful after busy days sightseeing in the city. We will certainly stay there again when we return to Bangkok.

The location was lovely. The hotels boar ferry was 5 minutes to the pier which was right in the centre and close to Khao San Road. The rooms were comfortable and very pretty The staff were all very polite and friendly

Breakfast was excellent, fresh and plenty. The pool is nice. Surrounding environment like the pond and garden are relaxing. Had really nice meals at the restaurant and the staff were very friendly.

Everything was gorgeous! From the historical, stunning rooms, comfy beds, lovely location next to Chao Praya river, accessible private boat transfer on demand, excellent staff that made you feel like royalty, Michelin star experience Praya dining, you better visit and experience the five star service.
