This hotel is a bit special. All the rooms have different themes, even the corridor leading to them feels luxurious with large chandeliers. The staff were excellent; attentive and helpful. The breakfast was superb, very high quality and delicious. The location is within walking distance of the beach. We met with the owner, who has recently taken over. She has done a superb job of refurbishing the bedrooms, we stayed in the 'equestrian room', the largest of the bedrooms. A very comfortable bed in a luxurious well-equipped room.

The rooms and upstairs have been re-furbished,so they look amazing.The bar was very busy on the nights we stayed so couldn't really get in,there was no other bar area that we could see which is a shame.Breakfast got better as the stay went on! The evening meals are ok, we only ate once in the hotel.

Beautifully presented recently renovated with a lot of thought and creativity everything f from the themed bedrooms to the fires in the public rooms to the scented corridors was just delightful. The staff were clearly happy so warm and attentive.

Before Booking I was aware that the Abbotsford had new owners and was undergoing a fairly extensive refurbishment and whilst the foyer/reception area hadn't changed much if at all (refurb planned for early 2025) My room exceeded expectations. A great mix of traditional and modern. The staff were both friendly and efficient, Breakfast as the only meal experienced was exactly what I required and expected. Altogether a enjoyable stay.

The hotel was beautifully decorated (including the Christmas trees!), clean, and peaceful. We loved relaxing by the fire with a drink when we arrived. My husband and I are both vegan, and we were made a lovely breakfast the next day. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating.

Brilliant. The new owners must have spent a fortune on the re-furb of this lovely period hotel. My room (the themed Whisky room) was large with a new, clean and well stocked en suite shower room. The shower was powerful. The bath towels were large. The bed was extremely comfortable and the pillows huge, and just the fight combination of soft and supportive. Breakfast selection was just right and delicious. The staff could not have been more engaging and efficient. The location is just out of the town centre so no traffic noise. I would definitely return.

Very nice room, although at the very top of the hotel - not easy to carry suitcases up the narrow staircase, but the young lad at reception helped. Food OK, but a bit limited for the non-cooked breakfast items. Big problem was the lack of staff, but those who were there were excellent, especially the young girl who filled in at dinner - and she was on her first ever shift!
