Anthony “Brilliant, period hotel at the centre of Avignon.”

This is a lovely, cool, period hotel with marble staircase, a piano in the lobby and historical and theatrical frames throughout. Philippe at the reception couldn't do enough for us - he was everything you want in the front-of-the-house team. Reception also had free drinks (with ice machine - much appreciated when it's 38°c!) and a little library (in French). I enjoyed a BD on the history of Avignon whilst sipping a local lemon sirop. Breakfast was a buffet - à volonté - with something for everyone and more than enough to last the day. The location was excellent - 2 minutes from the main high streetand Old Town. Plus we had a parking space for our stay inside the hotel grounds so no nasty parking fees. Do check on the day though as places are limited - the nearer to check-out time (11.30am) you arrive, the better. Our room (the family room) had a balcony too and was next to a first floor rooftop garden which looked across to a medieval religious building.

The location was superb, the building itself is a piece of art, it was properly cleaned, but the staff has beat all this. They were stars!!!

It was in the old part of Avignon so easy walking everywhere. Breakfast was excellent as was the room. We had free secure garaged parking for the motorbike.

The staff were friendly and helpful Breakfast was varied with a great choice. Coffee in the lounge was a very nice bonus! The terrace was fabulous and we mostly had it to ourselves.
