We booked the 1 bed cottage, great for what we needed, parking outside, cute, warm & comfy, beautiful surroundings, great walks along The Nith river and Burns country. 2/3 minute walk ro main Hotel , i loved its old country house feel, not the most modern Hotel but has a real warm charm about it. All the staff so friendly and lovely. Restaurant nice too, had a set evening meal and breakfast, both lovely.

The hotel is beautiful, a country house hotel, with lots of historical information on display, comfy settees in the lounge with a real fire in the evenings & nicely decorated for Christmas. Plenty of space outdoors for walks with its own fishing lake (available to residents for a daily fee). The staff were very friendly and helpful, all of our rooms were lovely, clean and very comfortable, with facilities to make hot drinks. Although the booking was for my husband and myself, two other rooms were booked separately by members of the family which included the family dog. The hotel staff weren't aware of the family connection until we arrived, but were able to provide a table for the family meal in the bar (at short notice) where pets were allowed to go. The rest of the family had their meal in the restaurant, the menu was excellent & we all enjoyed our meals. The next morning, some of the group had an early start for an Ice Hockey event in Dumfries leaving the Hotel at 6.30am, as we were unable to have the breakfast in the Hotel at that time, they kindly provided a takeaway breakfast of sandwiches, crisps, yoghurt, fresh fruit & fruit juice which was much appreciated. In the evening, they set aside a lovely room for all 8 of us and the dog, where we could all sit and eat together, followed by a visit to the snooker room. We did all have breakfast the next morning, continental or cooked breakfast with lots of choices so we were all "good to go" for another day watching a family member playing Ice Hockey in Dumfries. Many thanks to all the staff for all they did for us, we all had a great weekend.
