Amazingly well conserved house, very nice vibes. Close to the city centre, cafes and restaurants. The staff were very nice, especially the two ladies at the breakfast hall 😊

“Great place to stay in Arequipa!”

La Casa de Melgar is an excellent place where to stay in Arequipa! Super central, and 5 min walk to Plaza de Armas. The hotel itself is beautiful, set in a picturesque colonial home. The room was spacious and comfortable, bathroom clean and great shower with hot water. Breakfast was quite good, and set in a beautiful garden.

Really beautiful building and a nice breakfast and breakfast area. feels like living in a monastery, but in a good way. 😉 Location is perfect for visiting the city center. Good price-performance.

“Like stepping into a Latin American historical novel”

This is a beautifully preserved maze of a building, with colorfully painted hidden courtyards and lush gardens and planters everywhere. Each room is different (I peeked inside the uninhabited ones during cleaning times) with interesting art and craft works on display. The breakfast was nice. The staff make you feel right at home.

“A special place in an increasingly homogeneous world”

La casa de Melgar Rooms are divided by beautiful little courtyards full of flowers and trees. The staff are welcoming and friendly and very helpful, in particular Lydia, who speaks good English, and organised an early check-in for our morning arrival on the Cruz Del Sur bus. She also booked a taxi for our departure, which was far better than dealing with uber. There are a number of laundries just nearby which is very convenient when you are travelling around a lot. This hotel is a very tranquil place to stay in a big busy city. We had two very good night’s sleep owing to the peace and quiet. Our room was enormous 22 feet by 16 feet with a fine arched brick ceiling 12 to 15 feet high. The extremely comfortable double bed measured a huge 7 foot by 7 foot with four - nice! Everywhere in this hotel is filled with old world character and charm. From the 11 foot high double French doors with shutters to the thoughtful provision of a wardrobe, bedside tables, 2 sofas, a desk and a rack to put your baggage on. The solid thick stone walls are cool by day in the summer and warm at night. However, the 18th century styling does not in any way compromise the modern facilities. Wi-Fi is strong and consistent. There are electrical sockets all around the room for charging phones. The rooms are well lit. The large en-suite bathroom has a strong shower over a bath with lots of hot water. A hairdryer, clean fresh towels and soft loo roll are all provided free of charge and the room is impeccably clean at all times.

Most probably the best stay in Peru. The staff was super helpful and the decor exquisite. This was also the best breakfast during our stay in Peru. Excellent value for money

“Step back in time but with a modern mattress and bathroom”

Beautiful, lovingly preserved historical rooms in a sprawling maze of passages and patios. Tasteful, interesting decorative touches. Comfy bed, good hot shower, high-functioning wifi, good location in the old town.
